Pastor Mark, a native of Wisconsin, graduated from Hope College and Western Theological Seminary in Holland, Michigan. He has served churches in New York City; Manhasset, Long Island; Long Beach, California; and Atlanta, Georgia, before coming to Peace Presbyterian Church. When he's not working, you'll likely find him in his yard - he's a master gardener certified through the University of Florida extension service, or he might be out sailing on his boat, a J-24 berthed on the St. Johns River.

He and his wife, Mary, moved to Jacksonville almost five years ago. Mary is a college instructor in philosophy, specifically medical ethics. At present, she is working with a friend, developing an in-home tutoring business, working with clients pre-K though adult. They are the parents of two grown sons.
